Bingo Basics: Rules and Brief Beginners Guide

Bingo is a very popular game that almost anyone can play and enjoy. It is a great party game because it doesn't require expensive and specialized equipments. Bingo is a game of chance that is extremely easy to learn and get into.

There are several variations and versions of bingo, and the more popular one is the US and Canadian version. This guide is for the said version.

Players buy cards which have 5X5 grids with random numbers (1 to 75) assigned to each grid. The middlemost grid is labeled as "free space" and as such, doesn't contain a number unlike the other 24. The word BINGO is printed on the topmost area of the card and each letter corresponds to a single 5 grid column.

Located in the B column are numbers between 1-15, in the I column are numbers between 16-30, the N (contains the "free space" grid) column is comprised of numbers between 31-45, the G column between 46-60 and the O column the numbers between 61-75.

The object of the game is for the player to complete a bingo pattern. Bingo patterns come in many different forms, some of which are 5 numbers in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row. A winning pattern is announced to the players before the game is started.

After a player successfully completes a pattern, the player should then shout "BINGO!" which signals the end of the round. The card is then verified and once the process is over, the player is then declared the winner.

In order to complete a bingo pattern, the player is required to place markers on the grids that corresponds to the number announced by a non player character known as the caller. During each turn, the caller announces a number which is randomly selected from a container.

The caller then announces the selected number to the players. For example, if I-16 is called and the player has a grid in the I column with the number 16 on it, then the player can mark that grid.

Players are basically on a race to complete the winning pattern before other players do it first. Bingo is usually played in locations called bingo halls. The bingo equipment in these halls include bingo blowers and bingo flashboards. Players purchase their own bingo cards which are non reusable.

There is an almost infinite figure of possible combinations of numbers in bingo cards, which should ensure a steady supply of unique cards.

Bingo, as the reader may have already surmised, is a game that is extremely easy to play. What's more important is that each game promises to be as exciting as the last.
